Biography
Splendidula is an atmospheric doom collective from Belgium, formed in 2008. A cocktail of traditional doom and blistering sludge, post-metal grooves and psychedelia drones. Prepare to be spellbound as you enter an immersive realm, where dreamy visuals and decorations adorn the stage. Splendidula effortlessly blends genres to create a unique and captivating sound. Big riffs meet pounding beats with atmospheric passages that will lead you into a wild, heavy and psychedelic wonderland. The bewitched chants by vocalist Kristien and the harsh screams from guitarist Guy create a unique vocal contrast.
After releasing their self-titled debut album in 2013, their acclaimed second album Post Mortem was released in 2018 by Inverse Records from Finland and the Belgian Dust & Bones Records.
A worldwide record deal was inked with Italian powerhouse label Argonauta Records for the release of their third album Somnus early 2021. The album was mixed by Tim De Gieter at Much Luv Studio (Amenra, Brutus, Absent In Body) and mastered by Grammy Award winning engineer Alan Douches at West West Side Music (Sepultura, Mastodon, Motörhead, Fleetwood Mac, Pantera, Cannibal Corpse, etc.), and was very well received both by fans and (inter)national press. Somnus was also released in South America at the end of 2021 by Ruidoteka Records and received a repress in 2022, which was distributed by [PIAS].
This resulted in an impressive series of shows in Belgium and Europe, supporting bands such as Sylvaine, Wiegedood, Psychonaut, Wolvennest, Thurisaz, Alunah, Abysmal Grief etc., and performing at festivals such as Genk On Stage, Frietrock, Zingem Beeft, Darken The Moon, Feast of Fools & Terneuzen On Fire.
